elite runner & champion elkanah kibet returns as special guest

Lynchburg, VA - The Moore & Giles Virginia 10 Miler is pleased to share that two-time Virginia 10 Miler Champion and current U.S. Masters Record Holder for the marathon, Elkanah Kibet, will be this year’s Special Guest. He has represented the U.S. at the highest levels of elite, distance running most recently placing 4th at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and setting a new master’s record of 2:10:02. He has won the Virginia 10 Miler twice (2011, 2021) and placed 2nd twice (2010, 2015). His personal best on the world famous Virginia 10 Miler course is 48:24.

Elkanah Kibet will share his experiences on Thursday, September 24th at the University of Lynchburg during a special presentation entitled, “Dream big. Work hard. Stay disciplined. Persevere. Use your gifts to serve others." The event is free and tickets are not required. The event will be held in Schewell Hall (Syndnor Performance Hall).

Elkanah will join an invited, elite field, of more than sixty men and women who have met qualifying standards, in Saturday’s 52nd running of the Moore & Giles Virginia 10 Miler.
